New digs!
New digs!

Since it has now been three weeks without a new show I thought I would give an update.  First, as many of you are probably aware The Truth Network 99.3 FM moved their studio from Boone, IA to Des Moines, IA.  The new studio is located at the top of the Merle Hay Tower (ok, it’s only 6 floors, but it sounds cooler to say it that way).  It is generally recommended that you not move a studio if you don’t have to as there is equipment that after running practically non-stop for years was turned off and moved.

So with all of that there is bound to be a hiccup or two.  We expected to be down one Saturday.  They ran into a snag moving some major equipment, dish for the roof, etc. it took longer to get the station back online.  They were running a feed from a sister station until this week when they finally resumed local programming this week.  So we missed a second week.

This week I went into the new studio (Brian Myers was out-of-town)… I’m jazzed about the new digs.  I had a show lined up.  We were going to talk with Bruce Wykes with the Pioneer Institute and Mark Tooley with the Institute on Religion and Democracy.  We could get a phone call to go into the sound board, but the person on the other end couldn’t hear us.  Then we couldn’t hear ourselves…. Radio studio gremlins struck.

A plan B emerged.  The Truth Network 99.3 FM shares space with Webcast One Live who has their own studio (and phone lines).  They graciously allowed us to record in their studio which is incredibly green I might add.  It’s a nice space which I think will suit them better than the space they had off of the Skywalk downtown.  Anyway, Bruce was still able to come back on later in the day, and I lined Cody Hoefert, co-chair of the Republican Party of Iowa, to discuss the Iowa Straw Poll being canceled.  Chris Rohloff, the station manager joined me for segment three and it was a great show.

However those same radio studio gremlins attacked Webcast One Live and the recording went AWOL.  So this week our one-year anniversary show is playing today and Lord willing we will be back next Saturday with a new show.  Bruce Wykes agreed to come on next week and I hope Mark Tooley can as well.

We’ll be looking forward to hitting the airwaves once again.
