A video released by the Center for Medical Progress sparking another Planned Parenthood controversy is making waves in Iowa.  The video released released this week shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood harvests the body parts of aborted fetuses, and admitting that providers use partial-birth abortion techniques in order to supply intact body parts.  In light of this video there is a concerted effort to pressure Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and the Iowa Legislature to defund Planned Parenthood of the Heartland of state taxpayer money.

Dozens of elected officials, faith leaders, and pro-life advocates who have signed an open petition calling upon Branstad to investigate and defund Planned Parenthood in light of a shocking video exposing the abortion provider’s questionable practice of harvesting human body parts, allegedly for profit.

“In support of efforts to hold Planned Parenthood accountable to the women they claim to serve, to safe and sound medical practice, to the law, and to human decency, I’ve signed this petition, and I encourage others to sign as well,” commented Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of the The FAMiLY LEADER. “The revelations of this video demand leadership now, not later, and we encourage Gov. Branstad to exhibit that leadership.”

“We call on Iowa’s Governor Terry Branstad to keep his campaign promise to defund Planned Parenthood,” the petition states. “We expect every legislator who voted to fund Planned Parenthood to call for an immediate investigation into the organization’s practices. We call on Iowa’s churches to rise up for justice, to rescue those being led away to slaughter, and to practically empower Iowans to choose life and care for the living. We cannot deny this evil. We certainly cannot fund it. The time has come to end it.

“Every person deserves equal protection under the law. Yet, our most vulnerable citizens are being targeted for execution and their bodies sold like objects. We petition our elected employees to stop these crimes and amend our state’s law to protect every Iowan’s inalienable right to life,” the petition concludes.

There is also a rally planned on Saturday at 8:00am at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in Ames, IA prior to The FAMiLY Leadership Summit to call on the end of taxpayer-funded abortion in Iowa.
