The Greene County (Iowa) Republican Party already addressed taxpayer money being used for the abortion industry.  In their current platform they have a plank that reads, “We oppose the use of public funding for abortion services, contraception, and abortifacients.” After two videos were released showing Planned Parenthood staff involvement in harvesting baby body parts, allegedly for profit, they felt more needed to be done.

“After the release of the undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress I felt that our platform was not specific enough,” John Thompson, who authored a resolution submitted to the Green County Republican Party, told Caffeinated Thoughts.

“Providing any resources to Planned Parenthood helps them maintain their budget and helps them perform abortions whether or not the specific money provided from public resources is used specifically for abortion. Instead of allowing them to offset their expenses it is better to provide resources to health organizations that do not perform abortions,” Thompson added.

A short resolution was offered that read, “Public money should not be given to Planned Parenthood and should instead be given to women’s health organizations that do not practice abortion.”

It passed unanimously last week.

“We can end the public financing of Planned Parenthood in this state. A Marist Poll in January showed that 84% of Americans oppose late term abortion.  Planned Parenthood’s actions of dissecting and removing organs has woken up people who do not identify as pro-life to the fact that The organization is performing abortions on developed babies. The Center for Medical Progress has said they will continue to release these videos. We need to capitalize on this opportunity and abort Planned Parenthood,” Thompson stated.
