Shawn Dietz, former mayor of Hampton, joins protest.

A small group of Iowans held a rally before the FAMILY Leadership Summit on Saturday to protest Planned Parenthood and make a statement that the organization should be defunded of taxpayer dollars in the Iowa state budget and federally. They met outside the Stephens Auditorium on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, IA where the Summit that attracted over 2900 Iowans, almost two hundred members of the media, and ten Republican presidential candidates.

“We decided in light of the news that came out about Planned Parenthood that is was too important to stay home and just sit on the couch anymore with the news that they are selling human baby body parts for profit. We just needed to get out and make a presence that this is not acceptable, this is a clear line that has been drawn and we want to be on the right side of that line.  It is time for them to close their doors,” Kelsey Kurtinitis, who helped organize the protest, told Caffeinated Thoughts.
