Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker today released a new web video, “Recall the Recall.” June 5th marked three years since Walker became the first governor to survive a recall election. Walker was first elected in 2011 when Wisconsin had a large deficit and high unemployment numbers. Walker led an effort to reform the state’s collective bargaining system with public employees to help address the problem which sparked massive protests from the left.
Despite a bitter recall effort launched by Democrats and public employee unions, Walker won the recall election by a slightly larger margin against Milwaukee May Tom Barnett than he did when he defeated Barnett in the 2010 gubernatorial election.
Walker advisor Rick Wiley said, “Why did he win? Because people want someone with the courage to take on the big fights. Today’s Republican party is as strong as ever in terms of the seats we hold in Congress, state legislatures, and governorships around the country; the only thing that’s missing is the White House. That’s why voters want someone who’s not just a fighter, but a winner as well.”
Walker is making his 2016 announcement on Monday, July 13, 2015 in Waukesha, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee.
