Today, Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and 2016 presidential candidate, announced the chairpersons who will lead his volunteer activities in each of the 99 counties in Iowa. For months, Dr. Carson’s support in Iowa has consistently grown, and the most recent political survey of the state ranks him second among all GOP presidential candidates. Over 135 Iowans have stepped up to serve as county chairpersons, giving some counties co-chairs to help direct the Carson campaign’s efforts across the state.

“Dr. Ben Carson offers this nation the wisdom and leadership necessary to end the ridiculous gridlock in Washington,” said Rob Taylor, the Carson campaign’s Iowa State Co-Chair. “We have now assembled a fine team of community leaders, faith leaders and business leaders who will help spread his important message to Iowans throughout the state.”

“Our Iowa team understands that if America is to continue to be a nation of prosperity, We The People must get involved,” said Dr. Carson. “I look forward to working with this impressive group to remind Washington that it exists to serve the American people, not the other way around,”

“Dr. Carson has set a tone in this campaign as someone who is willing to stand up for what is right and make tough decisions that will save America’s future,” said Dr. Christina Taylor, the campaign’s Iowa State Co-Chair. “I am excited to welcome to the team all the new county co-chairs who believe in Dr. Carson’s vision for the country and will help him reach out to the voters of Iowa.”

In addition to voter recruitment activities, the County Chairs will assist the Carson campaign’s paid staff in Iowa by coordinating volunteer activities such as hosting phone banks, organizing countywide house parties and turning out the vote for the Iowa Caucus on February 1, 2016.

Among the individuals who serve as chairpersons for the 99 counties, the following individuals have joined the Carson campaign from Governor Scott Walker’s suspended presidential campaign.

  • Helen Wall, Rural Alden, Franklin County
  • Barb Hischler, Fairfield, Jefferson County
  • Elizabeth Van Steenis, Oskaloosa, Mahaska County
  • Dorothy Moore, Ruthven, Palo Alto County
