As soon as news broke about the shooting in Colorado Springs, CO at a Planned Parenthood clinic on Saturday that left three dead and nine wounded the narrative by the left was on.

Those are just a few Tweets that I saw as the news was breaking before any information was readily available.

The Washington Post reports that the alleged shooter in custody, Robert Lewis Dear, Jr., said “no more baby parts” according to an anonymous official.

Whether he said it or not the fact remains he was inside the Planned Parenthood clinic when the shooting started.  Police have not confirmed his motivation. I have said in the past and I’ll say again that people who murder abortion clinic employees or clinics are not pro-life.

It should be noted that one of the victims was Officer Garrett Swasey who was also a pro-life co-pastor of his church.  The officer with the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the shooting. He died in the line of service trying to protect life – even the lives of the Planned Parenthood clinic staff.  That is what being pro-life is all about.

We believe all life is sacred – all life not just people who agree with us.

The other two victims of the shooting have been identified Jennifer Markovsky, 35, and Ke’Arre Marcell Stewart, 29, neither worked at Planned Parenthood and apparently were there supporting a friend who was a client at the clinic.

Neither deserved to be gunned down, again we believe all life is precious.

I appreciated the statement made by Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in response to the shooting.

“While the investigation into the shooting at the Planned Parenthood center continues, regardless of what the motive is determined to be, we strongly condemn this violence.  As the target of domestic terrorism inspired by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the staff of the Family Research Council empathize with all the victims of this violence.  All of us at the Family Research Council join with the pro-life movement in praying for the injured officers and victims of these deplorable acts,” Perkins said in a released statement on Saturday.

“Only through peaceful means –not violence— can we truly become a nation that once again values all human life, born and unborn,” concluded Perkins.

Perkins brings up a point that seemed to be missed by those who are calling pro-life activists in general responsible for the shooting.  If Center for Medical Progress and pro-life activists are complicit for this shooting then Souther Poverty Law Center is complicit in the shooting at the Family Research Council.

Princeton law professor Robert P. George points out the double standards on his Facebook profile this morning:

To the ridiculous (and vile) claim that the rhetoric of pro-life advocates is responsible for Robert Lewis Dear’s murderous rampage, the answer can be stated in three words: Floyd Lee Corkins.

If the pro-life movement is repsonsible for Robert Lewis Dear’s crimes, then the gay rights movement (and especially the Southern Poverty Law Center) is responsible for Floyd Lee Corkins’.

There must be one and only one standard, friends. Not two. For far too long, left-liberal hegemony in the media and other elite sectors of the culture has enabled a double standard to be maintained about issues of this sort. This. Must. End.

Now is the time to end it.

No pro-life activists are not responsible, but we will condemn the violence shown at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic just as we do the violence that took place on the unborn at that very same clinic.
