Last Friday Ben Carson endorsed Donald Trump for President. I want to remind our readers that first off, Dr. Carson pledged not to endorse. He then laid out criteria he encouraged his supporters to use when considering what candidate to back on March 4th.

I have committed to not endorse a specific individual, but rather “We the People.” Though many today are making decisions based on fear and anger, I trust their judgment to logically examine the candidates and make the right decision by looking at:

(1) Whether they have demonstrated significant accomplishments over their lives and careers.

(2) If they have ideas that are clear and policies that are easy to find.

(3) How they treat their family and others, as that is how they will lead the country.

(4) What they have done to improve the lives of Americans;
the people they are with, what they are saying and how they collaborate with others.

(5) Their ethics, because what America needs is “Trickle-down ethics.

So he then endorses a candidate who primary success came from inheriting million of dollars from his father and then borrowing other people’s money. He endorses a candidate who has been all over the map on matters of policy in his lifetime, and even during the lifespan of his campaign. Does Dr. Carson believe Planned Parenthood has done some good things as well? He endorsed a candidate who is on his third marriage, a serial adulterer, accused of raping Ivana Trump (but not in the criminal sense – whatever that means), and has made lewd remarks about his daughter. As far as how he treats others? He likened Carson’s “pathology” to that of a child molester. That folks is just scratching the surface.

How has he helped improve the lives of Americans? By providing entertainment? By cheating investors through his various bankruptcies? By hiring foreign workers over Americans? What can we say about Donald Trump’s ethics? Well let’s see – he’s a pathological liar for starters. Then there’s the complaint that he’s using his corporate money to do his campaign’s dirty work. Threatening lawsuits seem to come as naturally as breathing to Donald Trump, it’s the primary way he bullies people and attempts to silence them.

We could go on.  How can one seriously say Dr. Carson didn’t ignore his own criteria (let alone the pledge he made) when he endorsed Trump? I couldn’t and keep a straight face. Trump is the antithesis of what we would expect from a candidate who lines up with Carson’s criteria.

Carson during Friday’s press conference said.

“‘But, well, you know, he said terrible things about you; how can you support him?”  Well, first of all, we buried the hatchet.  That was political stuff.  And, you know, that happens in American politics.  The politics of personal destruction and all that is not something that I particularly believe in or anything that I get involved in.  But I do recognize that it is a part of the process.  We move on because it’s not about me; it’s not about Mr. Trump. It’s about America.  And this is what we have to be thinking about.  I have found, in talking with him, that, you know, there’s a lot more alignment philosophically and spiritually than I ever thought that there was.

Really have you not asked God for forgiveness either Dr. Carson? Seriously? The Carson campaign was know for running a campaign that was the polar opposite of Donald Trump’s.

Well, why would you get behind a man like Donald Trump?”  I’ll tell you why.  First of all, I’ve come to know Donald Trump over the last few years.  He’s actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America.  There are two different Donald Trumps.  There’s the one you see on the stage and there’s the one who’s very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully.  You can have a very good conversation with him.  And that’s the Donald Trump that you’re gonna start seeing more and more of right now.

Two different Trumps? Apparently there are two different Ben Carsons as well. Still waiting to see this so-called intelligence of Donald Trump’s.

While Carson is now backing Trump, the real estate mogul couldn’t back away from earlier comments he made about Carson. “Ben just wrote it in his book, I just read sections of his book. I read what Ben wrote, I’m not going to make up anything,” Trump said Sunday morning.

Well now we know the price of ignoring your own criteria when making an endorsement – you get thrown under the bus.

Update: Ok, now we know the real reason Carson endorsed Trump – the promise of a job.
