I can’t say that I know much about Nigel Farage, leader of the the UK Independence Party (UKIP) beyond what I’ve seen since the Brexit vote to leave the European Union, as well as, what our own John Gustavsson has written about UKIP.
I can say after watching Farage speak to the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium on the heels of the Brexit vote that he is a man with a spine. America take note.
Our Congressional leadership could take some lessons from him. Watch below:
“Isn’t it funny that when I came here 17 years ago and I said that I wanted to lead a campaign to get Britain to leave the European Union you all laughed at me. Well, I have to say, you aren’t laughing now are you? And the reason you are so upset, the reason you are so angry has been perfectly clear from all of the angry exchanges this morning. You, as a political project, are in denial. You are in denial that your currency is failing,” Farage said.
Wow. Brits have made a wise move considering just this week the European Union has now banned the claim that water prevents dehydration. I kid you not. That is just one example of the onerous bureaucracy that has come to bear on member states.
The European Union is a prime example of transnational statism, and the United Kingdom should be glad to be getting out. Well done Mr. Farage.
