(Des Moines, IA) Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton made a campaign stop in downtown Des Moines to highlight early voting that started today in Iowa. Roughly 600 people attended the rally at Cowles Commons.

The rally kicked off with an “interfaith” invocation that from my perspective as an evangelical was completely worthless.

Jim Mowrer, the Democratic nominee in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, took time to bash Congressman David Young (R-Iowa) and link him to Donald Trump. Does anyone seriously believe this?

Considering Young has consistently polled ahead of Mowrer, this guy is looking at his second defeat in as many congressional districts. Perhaps he’ll carpet bag to the Iowa 1st Congressional District next cycle if Congressman Rod Blum (R-Iowa) wins reelection.

Former Lt. Governor Patty Judge also tried to tie Donald Trump to her opponent U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). She whined about his “unprecedented” decision to hold off hearings on a Supreme Court nominee until a new President is sworn in. This is simply ridiculous. If there was a Democrat Senate with a Republican President the Democrats would be doing the exact same thing. They would be stupid not to. The Senate has to give advice and consent to the presidential nominee. The Constitution does not spell out a time table.

Actor Sean Astin made his second trip out to Iowa to campaign for Hillary Clinton.  He makes a great Hobbit, but I’m not going to take his political advice.

Hillary Clinton touted free college for families who earn less than $125,000 and debt free college for those who make more. She did mention reducing the interest rate on federal student loans which is something I think she would get bipartisan support for. Also, she mentioned her plans to hose job creators, mandate paid maternity lead, increase the minimum wage, along with other ideas that will kill jobs on Main Street because she doesn’t have a basic understanding of economics.

I’m not a Donald Trump fan and have no plans to vote for him, but Republicans who choose to vote for Hillary Clinton are insane.

Hear what she had to say for yourself.
