Day One of the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference got us off to a great start, and Day Two kept it going. Filled with top names, high energy events, and thousands of hyped conservatives, it was a great day. Even though it was like a marathon of political knowledge, wisdom, and hilarity, there definitely were some highlights.
Hear are my top five highlights of Day Two:
President Donald J. Trump
Mr. Make America Great Again himself, President Donald J. Trump came to speak to CPAC. Although the Secret Service made security pretty tight, people were still motivated to come and hear from their President-some were even in line as early as 4:30 in the morning. Trumpâs speech emphasized two things: Fake news, and victory in America.
âOur victory was a win like nobody has ever seen before. And I’m here fighting for you, and I will continue to fight for you. The victory and the win was something that really was dedicated to a country and people that believe in freedom, security and the rule of law. Our victory was a victory and a win for conservative values. And our victory was a win for everyone who believes it’s time to stand up for America, to stand up for the American worker, and to stand up for the American flag.â
Nigel Farage (Mr. Brexit)
Who would have thought that such a great pursuer of liberty in the United States would be British? Nigel Farage (leader of UKâs Independence Party) was the force behind the Brexit movement that became successful in 2016. He was there to remind us all that Brexit and the red takeover of the United States are victories, but theyâre just the start of something amazing in the free world.
âWhat happened in 2016 wasnât the end of a global revolution-it was the BEGINNING.â
Girls Just Wanna Have Guns
What do you get when you put Antonia Okafor, Katie Pavlich, Kimberly Corban, Ashlee Lundvall, and Kristi McMains in the same room? A panel that could have been titled âGirls Just Wanna Have Gunsâ (but was actually titled âArmed and Fabulous: The New Normalâ). The five ladies discussed 2nd Amendment rights in America, specifically emphasizing how important they are to women.
Thomas Hern Meet and Greet
The MOST prestigious name in young conservative politics held a meet and greet for all his fans. The speech was HUGE, the fans were energetic. Media came flooding in, hoping to get a picture of THE Thomas Hern. High-energy event overall. WOW!
(Thomas is actually the deputy national field director for Turning Point USA and this event was set up as a joke, and yes it did attract media. It was such a group think moment.)
Charlie Kirk and TPUSA
No CPAC would be complete without the presence of Turning Point USA and without seeing the Founder and Executive Director, Charlie Kirk, take the mainstage. Turning Point has grown like crazy in the past few years, and has now become a familiar name within the CPAC arena.
