During Tuesday night’s debate in the Iowa Senate over the 20-week abortion ban State Senator Jake Chapman (R-Adel) attempted to amend the bill with a life at conception amendment.

That amendment was ruled not germane. Afterwards he moved that the Senate suspend their rules to add the amendment. That motion was defeated 33 to 16. During the debate over that motion State Senator Tony Bisignano (D-Des Moines) said that the Iowa Senate was too dignified to suspend the rules.

Watch his remarks below.

Too much dignity to be able to vote on life at conception?

If that is considered “undignified” what does he call the slaughter of innocent children in the womb?

Unreal.
