This week on Caffeinated Thoughts Radio, Jenifer Bowen of Life Right Action joined Shane Vander Hart as a guest co-host. Shane and Jenifer in the first segment talk to Matt Whitaker, a former U.S. Attorney under President George W. Bush, about the Comey memo and Robert Mueller’s appointment as special counsel for the Russia investigation. They later discussed Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller’s opinion that Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds will not have the authority to appoint a new Lieutenant Governor when she is sworn in as Governor upon Governor Terry Branstad’s resignation when confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to China.
Jessica Dunker, the president and CEO of the Iowa Resturant Association, joins Jenifer and Shane during the second segment. She informs our listeners about what her organization does and the issues they work on, such as, a bill that prevented cities and counties from determining their minimum wage and other regulations that would make it burdensome for different restaurant chains in Iowa. Dunker also explained her organization’s view of the minimum wage explaining that there isn’t anyone in any of the restaurants they serve who currently only earns the minimum wage. She also discussed Iowa’s tip wage and how servers benefit.
In the third segment, Jenifer discussed a new initiative Life Right Action launched on Mother’s Day – iwasunplanned.com. A website where those who were or whose child were the product of an unplanned pregnancy can share their stories.
Also, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced they are closing four more clinics in Iowa making that a total of 20 closed since 2010.
Then, why are the Turkish president’s bodyguards beating American protestors during a lawful protest and what is the United States going to do about it?
We then, of course, share our Top Trump Tweet of the Week so don’t miss that!
