Live Action released a video last week with audio from pregnant women calling Planned Parenthood to ask about different services they need.
Apparently, Google is the best reference they give. I kid you not, these women were counseled to Google to find adoption services, ultrasound providers, pregnancy services or a list of obstetricians. Calls placed clinics in Austin, TX, Cedar Rapids, IA, Council Bluffs, IA, Dover, DE, Elizabeth, NJ, Morristown, NJ, and Winston-Salem, NC revealed a stunning lack of alternatives to abortion.
In Cedar Rapids, the caller asked if the Planned Parenthood clinic there offered any pregnancy services. Planned Parenthood staff replied, “No, not unless you were planning on terminating a pregnancy. That’s the only service we would be able to offer.”
In Council Bluffs, the caller asked about where she could find a place that offered ultrasounds. In response, the staff member she was speaking with said, “I don’t know of anything. I would look around on the internet. We don’t do any ultrasounds for prenatal care. We do them when we are doing abortions, but not for any other reason.”
Live Action highlights that Planned Parenthood commits over 320,000 abortions per year meaning they do 887 abortions per day, and that equals one abortion every 97 seconds. There is a lot of talk about Planned Parenthood offers a variety of health care services for women, but that simply is not true.
Live Action points out that Planned Parenthood only does less than 2 percent of all U.S. breast exams, less than 1 percent of all Pap smears, and less than 2 percent of all U.S. cancer screenings. They do account for 34.9 percent of all U.S. abortions.
And those services are shrinking.
Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards admitted before Congress that her organization performs no mammograms at all. HRSA health centers, on the other hand, recorded serving more than 470,000 patients for mammograms in 2014, and 521,000 in 2015.
But what about Pap smears, which test for cervical cancer? Those are also on the decline at Planned Parenthood.
A look at the organization’s 2005 annual report (which contained an update to their 2004 service numbers) reveals that Pap tests declined 77 percent between 2004 (~1.1 million) and 2014 (~271,000).
In contrast, federal health centers provided more than 1.7 million Pap tests to their patients in 2014, and more than 1.8 million in 2015.
Overall, cancer screenings at the nation’s largest abortion provider have plummeted 68.3 percent.
In 2004, Planned Parenthood performed a combination of 2,157,849 services (see updated 2005 annual report), which included Pap tests, breast exams, colposcopy procedures, LEEP procedures, and cryotherapy procedures.
Then, by 2014, despite adding HPV vaccinations to this category, cancer screenings declined to only 682,208.
Planned Parenthood is not about parenthood nor are they about health care.
Planned Parenthood is simply an abortion mill.
