We hear a lot about consensus in the scientific community when it comes to mankind’s impact on climate change. “Consensus is not science. Science is numbers,” Dr. John Christy would counter.

Regarding our impact on global climate change we just don’t know. Christy says, “There is no experiment that you can do that will determine the impact of CO2 on the climate.”

Caffeinated Thoughts’ senior contributor Brian Myers talks to Dr. John Christy. Christy is a professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is also Alabama’s State Climatologist. His chief interests are satellite remote sensing of global climate and global climate change.

In the first part of a two-part interview, Myers discusses with Christie how he became interested in climate science, the push for consensus surrounding climate change, and whether or not mankind is to blame.
