Iowa Senate District 25

(Des Moines, IA) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds set the date for a special election in Iowa Senate District 25 for Tuesday, April 10, 2018. This follows the resignation of former Iowa Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix (R-Shell Rock).

Iowa Senate District 25 that consists of the eastern two-thirds of Butler, Grundy, Hardin, and eastern Story Counties (comprised of Iowa House Districts 49 and 50).

Since the Iowa Legislature is currently in session the 40-day notice for a special election required in the Iowa Code is waived. According to Iowa Code 69.14, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds only has to give an 18-day notice to fill Dix’s seat. It also has to be held on a Tuesday.

Below is the text of Governor Reynolds’ proclamation.
