I got into an abortion debate with a couple of libertarians today, and I got to air one of the deepest, darkest facts about abortion that I think is not often considered or brought to light. And my complementarianism is about to show big time.

I believe men’s primary role, whether from a spiritual or evolutionary standpoint, is as a leader, which means he is tasked with protecting those weaker than him. This is typically his wife and children. However, one of the most horrendous attributes of abortion is hookup culture. Abortion leads to hookup culture because women who know they can simply abort a baby are going to be more sexually available. Hookup culture neuters a man, causing him to become predatory rather than protectionist. I think this is a fact many men are realizing.

But there’s a more direct and sinister fact about abortion that I think would cripple me if I were a licentious man. And that is, abortion is seen as solely a woman’s right, so it does not require the input of the other part involved in creation, i.e. the man. What would haunt me is the knowledge that the more women I hooked up with, the more likely it was that I fathered a child who never came to be. In fact, it is likely that a good many children were created and killed unbeknownst to their fathers. In fact, there are likely a good number of fathers who don’t know that they are fathers because their child was killed before birth.

I don’t know how I would deal with that. Aside from the inherent moral wrong of killing a person who has done nothing to harm you, the fact is, the moral wrongs of abortion are many, and deep-cutting. Abortion strikes at the soul of man, crippling him and stripping him of all his best qualities. It’s a plague on humanity instituted by those who hate humanity more than anything. The same people who preached eugenics. The same people whose talk of overpopulation has led to mass genocide. Let’s be honest, they hate humanity, deep in their core, and abortion is, to them, merely a way to strip each gender of what is best about them.

It’s just a thought, but it saddens me greatly. How many men would be fathers today, but for abortion?
