If you missed the first of two debates in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District between Congressman Rod Blum (R-Iowa) and his Democratic challenger State Representative Abby Finkenauer (D-Dubuque) Friday night watch below:

The debate was sponsored by KWWL and the University of Northern Iowa.

Blum’s campaign spokesperson, Alexah Rogge, emailed the following statement on Friday night:

This debate was a much-needed opportunity for Iowans to hear the truth; for Congressman Blum to refute the millions of dollars in attack ads that have been placed against him over the past few months by special interest groups in Hollywood, Boston, and San Francisco funding Abby Finkenauer’s campaign. Rep. Blum successfully demonstrated his experience, independence, and motivation to work across the aisle to lower healthcare costs, improve markets for farmers, and continue the incredible economic growth we are experiencing. We hope that Ms. Finkenauer changes her mind and agrees to the additional debates Rep. Blum has proposed to allow voters of the first district more opportunities to hear about the issues that matter.

Update: The original post said the “one and only debate,” but this was the first of two that will be held. The second debate is hosted by CBS2/FOX28 on October 16 in Cedar Rapids. We apologize for the error.
