On Monday, President Donald Trump tweeted out a suggestion after dinging CNN for their ratings.

He said:

While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition. Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!

I’m not a fan of CNN, but when has state-run media ever been a good idea? I can’t think of a single example of a country’s state-run media not being a propaganda tool for the government.

In fact, I’d love to get rid of taxpayer-funded media like NPR so I certainly wouldn’t want to see us double down on this.

I really wish the President wouldn’t use Twitter as a sounding board for his far-fetched ideas.
