I didn’t think I would write another post about yet another gap by former Vice President Joe Biden. After his speech on Thursday at the Des Moines Register Political Soapbox at the Iowa State Fair when he said that Democrats “choose truth over facts,” he spoke at a town hall hosted by the Asian & Latino Coalition in Des Moines.

He addressed education and talked about the need to challenge students.

“We should challenge students in these schools. We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” Biden said.

After a smattering of applause and a brief awkward pause, he went on to say, “Wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids — no I really mean it, but think how we think about it.”

Watch:

I’ve said before that the Democratic nomination is Biden’s to lose and gaffes like this is how he could lose.
