U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, has come under fire by the left and the media since before the last debate. One of the strangest accusations made toward her is that she is a stooge for the Russians.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a conversation on former Obama campaign manager David Plouffe’s podcast, “Campaign HQ,” said that Russians are grooming Gabbard for a third-party bid in order to get President Donald Trump elected.

Listen below:

“They’re also going to do third-party again,” Clinton said. “I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on someone who’s currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”

And here I thought President Trump is the one who promotes conspiracy theories.

Gabbard unloaded on Clinton on Twitter:

Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has bee n a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose.

It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.

Dang. My response on Twitter:

While I don’t believe the Democratic primary is between Gabbard and Clinton, I do half a mind to register as a Democrat just so I can caucus for Gabbard in February.

For someone who is polling around 2-3 percent she’s certainly getting under some Democrats’ skin and it’s entertaining to watch.
