DES MOINES, Iowa – The filing process for Iowa businesses is better than ever thanks to the Fast Track Filing system launched by the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office. Iowa Secretary of State Pate announced today that biennial report filing is now available using the system. Businesses that are registered with the state are required to file reports every two years. Approximately 70,000 Iowa businesses will file biennial reports in 2020.

“I promised to provide Iowa’s business community with the service it deserves, and this enhancement brings us another important step closer to that goal,” Pate said. “

Biennial reports have been available to file online since 2002 but starting this year the reports will be a part of the Fast Track Filing system. Filers can create an account to have access to their filing history of biennial reports with links to print the filed report and/or receipt. They can also save a partially completed filing and update it later.

Pate launched Fast Track Filing for new businesses in June of 2018. Since that time, more services have been added to the system, including the ability to change your registered agent and do conduct Uniform Commercial Code filings. Processes that previously took as long as three weeks are reduced to less than one day.

“Fast Track Filing greatly benefits Iowa’s business community,” Pate said. “We are helping entrepreneurs cut through the bureaucratic red tape. This is service at the speed of business, not the speed of government.”
