WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, will begin his annual tradition of holding question-and-answer sessions with Iowans in every county this year for the 40th year in a row on Friday, February 14 with meetings in Johnson County, Cedar County, and Jones County.

This year, Grassley will complete his fourth decade of holding meetings in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties. Grassley has held at least one meeting with Iowans in every county, every year since he was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980.

Grassley announced that the tour will kick off in eastern Iowa, but his official website (at time of publication) does not give the times or locations of the first three stops on Friday.

“Representative government is a two-way street, and it requires continued dialogue between elected officials and the people they represent. I look forward to the opportunity to listen to Iowans’ comments and concerns and respond directly to their questions. I hold meetings in a variety of settings to ensure that a broad cross-section of Iowans can participate, including businesses, schools, town meetings, and factory floors. Although the setting may differ from county to county, the format is the same: Iowans set the agenda,” Grassley said in a released statement.
