Jeremy Taylor and Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – On Monday, Jeremy Taylor, a candidate in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District race, officially filed to be on the ballot for the Republican primary to be held on June 2nd. Taylor filed with nearly 3,500 petitions, almost doubling the 1,872 petitions needed to secure ballot access.

“We need someone who will help restore constitutional principles in the US House and effectively stand for the right to life, tackle out-of-control spending, secure our borders, and fight for Iowa’s ag economy. J.D. Scholten almost won this seat in 2018. His policies and allegiances align with self-described socialist Bernie Sanders, which are radically out of touch with the values of families in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. The hardworking men and women of the “Fighting Fourth” deserve someone who can fight from the committee level to the floor for liberty and the kitchen-table issues they discuss each night, whether the rising cost of healthcare and college tuition or the ever-increasing encroachment of the federal government with higher taxes and debt,” Taylor said in a released statement.

“I have always put service over self. Politics for me is not about power or personal gain but about serving people first. I am in this race because I am the best person to take on J.D. Scholten in the fall where I won IA-04’s most populous county by 4,000 votes over my opponent and where Steve King lost by over 3,000 votes,” he added.

“I am in this race because President Trump needs an ally he can partner with and recognize in Iowa’s 4th. I am in this race because we deserve a representative who is willing to debate the issues and answer hard questions. I am in this race because I will earn the seat at the doorsteps, coffee shops, and farms of Iowa’s 4th, not by being bought and paid for by the establishment power brokers in DC or Des Moines,” Taylor concluded.

He also recorded a video message after delivering the petitions:
