It’s Friday! Since most of our news consumption consists of bad news, especially during this pandemic, I wanted to take the time to offer up some non-political good news. Something that can inspire us or, at the very least, make us smile.
1. A Toilet Paper Miracle!
First, I want to start with a bit of good news for me personally. Since I’ve experienced lousy news during this pandemic, I’m learning to appreciate the little things – even toilet paper. We are coming out of the Great Toliet Paper Famine of 2020, but while I could find lesser brands of toilet paper, I was unable to find the brand my family and I loved.
I even lamented Thursday morning how I miss Scott toilet paper. Something I never thought I would miss.
Then, walking into Fareway near where I live – miracle of miracles! I found Scott toilet paper in abundance. I almost broke into singing the Doxology right in the middle of the store.
It’s the little things. May you find the toilet paper of your dreams.
2. Classic Cars Keep Employees Working at Car Dealerships
A friend in North Carolina, Cameron Cloud, sent this bit of good news.
Scott Mason of WRAL TV in Raleigh, N.C. shared how a local automotive group found a creative way to keep the engine running for some of its employees.
3. Feed It Forward
Scott Duncan, an Indianola resident, started Feed It Forward, inspired by Food It Forward. This national movement raises funds for local restaurant gift cards to be bought and gifted to our first responders, front line workers, high-risk individuals, and food shelters. Duncan has raised over $7,000 thus far.
He was featured on Fox News this week.

4. A Giving Tree in Lisbon, Iowa
Deb Siggins, a resident of Lisbon, Iowa, has made hundreds of face masks for residents and left them on a nearby tree for people to pick up.
Good Morning America reports that the 55-year-old woman first started making masks for UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Her initial goal was 100, but friends and family said they liked the masks she made, so she kept making them, and so far, she’s made over 400.
She said it was difficult to reach everyone, so she shared on Facebook that she has a mask tree. It was a tree her family usually decorates for Christmas and Easter.

5. A Unique Cure for Boredom
Erin Sloane, a 15-year-old from Winsford, England, was bored during the pandemic. Something I’m sure every kid has experienced. She came up with a unique cure for her boredom.
She just built an 8 ft. climbing wall in her bedroom.
No big, and it only took her a week (only because she had to wait for materials).
