Iowa’s COVID-19 cases by county as of Sunday, April 12, 2020.

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 77 additional positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 1,587 positive cases in 81 counties. A further 383 negative tests were conducted by the State Hygienic and other labs for a total of 16,005 negative tests to date.

IDPH also reports an additional seven deaths for a total of 41 COVID-19 related deaths in Iowa; the latest deaths were two older adults (61-80 years) and four elderly adults (81+) from Linn County. Also, one elderly adult (81+) from Washington County passed away.

There are currently 129 Iowans hospitalized, and 674 have recovered. 

According to IDPH, the locations and age ranges of the 77 individuals include:

  • Benton County, one older adult (61-80 years)
  • Black Hawk County, one child (0-17 years), one adult (18-40 years), two middle-age adults (41-60 years), one older adult (61-80 years), one elderly (81+)
  • Buchanan County, one adult (18-40 years)
  • Clinton County, one adult (18-40 years)
  • Des Moines County, one middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Dubuque County, one adult (18-40 years), two middle-age adults (41-60 years)
  • Jasper County, one middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Johnson County, one adult (18-40 years), seven middle-age adults (41-60 years)
  • Linn County, two adults (18-40 years), three middle-age adults (41-60 years), two older adults (61-80 years), one elderly (81+)
  • Louisa County, one adult (18-40 years), five middle-age adults (41-60 years) 
  • Lyon County, one adult (18-40 years)
  • Marshall County, three middle-age adults (41-60 years), 
  • Muscatine County, four middle-age adults (41-60 years), two older adults (61-80 years)
  • Osceola County, one middle-age adult (18-40 years)
  • Polk County, six adults (18-40 years), three middle-age adults (41-60 years), three older adults (61-80 years), two elderly adults (81+) 
  • Scott County, three middle-age adults (41-60 years), one older adult (61-80) 
  • Tama County, two adults (18-40 years), six middle-age adults (41-60 years), one older adult (61-80 years) 
  • Warren County, one middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Washington County, two middle-age adults (41-60 years)

IDPH provides a status report of monitoring and testing of COVID-19 found here. Also, Iowans with questions about COVID-19 can call 2-1-1 or 1-800-244-7431 24/7. The state of Iowa has started sharing the number of negative tests conducted at outside labs and is providing additional information on the conditions of those infected with COVID-19.
