VAN METER, Iowa – David Young, Republican candidate for Iowa’s Third Congressional District, on Thursday announced the endorsement of four former members of the Iowa delegation to Congress.

Former U.S. Representatives Tom Latham (1995-2015), Greg Ganske (1995-2003), Jim Ross Lightfoot (1993-1997), and Tom Tauke (1979-1991) have all added their names to the growing list of Iowans supporting David’s candidacy to retake the Third Congressional District seat.

“I learned in my time of service that to be a great Representative, you have to listen,” said Ganske. “David Young not only did that, but he took what he heard from all across the district back to Washington, D.C. where he led the fight to make Iowans lives better, from Fremont County to Polk County and everywhere in between.”

“David Young served Iowa honorably as its Third District Representative,” said Latham. “He led on the Committee on Appropriations to ensure the government spent taxpayer money wisely and to cut what was wasteful. We need that voice and leadership again in Washington.”

“Congressman Young is the kind of leader we need now in the U.S. House of Representatives. He knows the people and needs of this district well, and he knows how to advocate for them in Washington, DC. David Young delivers,” said Lightfoot.

“David Young personifies what public service is all about.  He cares about the people he serves.  He works hard.  And he gets results, because he knows how to get things done.  That’s why Iowans need him in Congress,”  said Tauke.

“I want to thank these fine gentlemen for their endorsement and support,” said Young. “They all served Iowa honorably during their service in the U.S. House of Representatives, and their advice and counsel were invaluable during mine. I look forward to their further guidance after we win this Third District seat in November.”

Young was elected to serve the Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and reelected in 2016. He served on the influential Committee of Appropriations. Prior to his service in Congress, Young served Iowans as U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2013. A graduate of Johnston High School and Drake University, Young is a seventh generation Iowan and resides in Van Meter.
