It’s Friday! Since most of our news consumption consists of bad news, especially during this pandemic, I wanted to take the time to offer up some non-political positive and good news. Something that can inspire us or, at the very least, make us smile.

1. First home run!

I know many of you miss baseball. I’m personally not a fan, but I am a fan of the video below. Former Independent League baseball player Cory Willig’s reaction to his 4-year-old son Ash’s first home run is fantastic.

Yay Ash!

2. Praying Mantis vs. Murder Hornet

All of you may have seen the news of Asian Giant Hornets, aka Murder Hornets, found in Washington State.

They’re huge, and multiple stings can kill human beings, not to mention stings are painful. (They also can wreak havoc on bee populations.

You may be asking where the good news is?

Praying Mantis and Murder Hornet have a deathmatch.

Praying Mantis for the win! You may not find that to be good news, but I’m happy to see North America has some natural predators to Murder Hornets.

3. Sending $1 million in flowers to isolated elderly mothers.

Lowe’s partnered with Uber to deliver $1 million in flowers to 100,000 moms located in senior living. Excellent!

4. A joyful reunion

Italy is relaxing its lockdown regulations, leading to joyful family reunions like this one, when 72-year-old Domenico di Massa threw his granddaughter Cecilia into the air out of happiness.

5. Teaching karate to the elderly

Jeffrey Wall, a 14-year-old blackbelt who is the founder of Golden Karate, shares how he maintains social distancing while engaging his Senior Students sheltering in place in their nursing homes. He discusses this with the Weather Channel.

Have good news that you would like to share? Drop me a line at shane@caffeinatedthoughts.com for your story to possibly be shared in next week’s Friday Five.
