It’s Friday! Since most of our news consumption consists of bad news, especially during this pandemic, I wanted to take the time to offer up some non-political positive and good news. Something that can inspire us or, at the very least, make us smile.
1. Quarantine Hugs
A grandmother in Illinois can hug her grandchildren again thanks to the ingenuity of her granddaughter.
2. A Zoom Science Fair
Students at Ottawa Christian Academy in Ottawa, Ill. missed out on the science and arts fair this year but their awesome teacher, Mrs. Netty Varo, helped them do it at home via Zoom.
They made their 3D Animal Projects at home and then presented them virtually on Zoom. See a few examples below:
3. The Gospel is Just One Click Away
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association reports that a police officer found their online ministry’s website called Search for Jesus and chatted with a volunteer. He said he was under quarantine and felt ill. He said he asked on Google “How can I be saved?” And their page popped up.
The volunteer shared the gospel with him and he placed his faith in Christ.
4. 11-year-old Makes Skateboarding History
Tony Hawk, take that. Gui Khury, an 11-year-old skateboarder from Brazil, became the first to ever land a 1080-degree turn on a vertical ramp.
Amazing.
5. Can I Have Some Gym Equipment, To Go?
Be Strong Gym, in Bloomington, Ill., closed during the state’s stay-at-home order. The owner, Drew Whitted, didn’t want his members to miss out on working out.
So he told his come pick up equipment and take it home free of charge. He checked out $40,000 worth of equipment during the lock down. He said 80 members took him up on his offer and the gym was cleared out in two hours.
“Now I see a whole family, getting through this shelter in place, getting through this tough time doing these workouts together, bonding together, becoming healthier and happier together as a family unit,” Whitted told CNN.
He did hold on to some equipment in order to offer online workout classes.
