WASHINGTON – On Thursday, American Principles Project (APP) released a new campaign ad highlighting the recent violent riots in numerous American cities resulting in the defacing of monuments to America’s founders. The ad also calls out Democrats for encouraging the idea that America was truly founded in 1619 to protect slavery, instead of in 1776 to advance liberty.

The ad urges viewers to ask Joe Biden: “Will he stand up to the anti-American radicals calling for the end to July 4th? Will he stand up for the American founding of 1776? Or will he join those who want to end America as we know it?”

Watch:

APP announced they would run the ad on digital platforms over the next two weeks.

“Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen an explosion in anti-American sentiment on the radical Left. It is apparently progressive doctrine that America is inherently racist and that our country was founded to further oppression, not liberty. And now, the Democratic Party is more and more embracing this anti-American movement,” Terry Schilling, APP’s executive director said in a released statement.

“We aim to make clear to America’s voters that this is the new dividing line. Do voters agree with progressive Democrats that America is fundamentally racist and evil? Do voters believe that July 4th is not our real Independence Day and that we shouldn’t celebrate it? Do voters want our children taught that America is evil?” he asked.

“These are serious questions that will be on the ballot in November, and we are confident that voters are still largely pro-America, not anti-America,” he concluded.

While polling indicates that Americans largely support the peaceful protests and calls for police reform sparked by the death of George Floyd, they are not as sympathetic toward rioting and vandalism. Some on the left have pointed out that riots and looting have been counterproductive in the past, even at the ballot box.

Democrats not distancing themselves from the riots and anti-American sentiment may encounter trouble with voters as November draws near.
