DES MOINES, Iowa – The Reynolds Administration announced on Friday that Test Iowa sites in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids will move to new locations in those communities later today when testing concludes at 6 p.m.

The Des Moines site, currently located at the Iowa Events Center north parking lot, was the first to open in the state on April 25. It will move to Polk County River Place at 2309 Euclid Avenue in Des Moines.

The Cedar Rapids site, which opened May 7 at the Kirkwood Community College Community Education Training Center, will move to the Iowa DOT District 6 Office at 5455 Kirkwood Boulevard in Cedar Rapids.

Moves are occurring to accommodate increased business activity at the Iowa Events Center and Kirkwood Community College. Both sites will be relocated over the weekend and will reopen for testing on Mon., June 15, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gov. Kim Reynolds said she appreciates the Iowa Events Center and Kirkwood Community College for hosting Test Iowa sites.

Test Iowa offers ten drive-up test sites for Iowans to receive a test for COVID-19 in Black Hawk, Buena Vista, Dallas, Linn, Marshall, Polk, Pottawattamie, Scott, Sioux, and Wapello counties. Seven clinics are offering to test using Test Iowa testing supplies in Black Hawk, Carroll, Crawford, Des Moines, Mitchell, Page, and Union counties. Iowans can find the testing locations and schedule on the Test Iowa website.

At the time of publication, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 212,833 Iowans received a test for a per capita rate of one in 15 receiving a test. The State Hygenic Lab is now processing over 5,000 tests daily. Out of those tested, 23,169 have tested positive for COVID-19 for an average positivity rate of 10.9 percent. On Thursday, out of 5,432 tests, only 313 were positive for a positivity rate of 5.7 percent.
