Today I want to raise my voice to you O Lord,

I want to sing a new song before you. A gratitude song.

How can I thank you for allowing me the privilege to be called “Mom”?

Mom, the first word they said.

How can I thank you?

How can I thank you for making my body the place where your hands would knit beautiful beings on your own image.

O Maker, Your deeds are marvelous.

Before you I bow, humbled and amazed, why did you chose me?

I am a sinful woman, a forbidden-fruit eater

Yet I have bore in my womb Covenant children.

Is your Grace again, reminding me once more,

That every time I hear them call me “Mom”

I am playing a role under your sun

that I do not deserve.

Such a calling is too high for me to undertake

But again, I know is your grace that will  help me ’till the end.

This my song; a gratitude song.

How can I thank you, for making me able to love with such might?

How can I thank you, my Only  God, for giving me eyes to see deep in my children’s heart?

How can I thank you for making me able to hold them tight?

To teach them the numbers, and letters that form words which carry a meaning,

and feed them daily with the Living Word?

As I think, of how they say that we should buy Mom a gift this day,

I think that I am the one that should give them a gift

For I have received from each of my child, more than I could ever possibly give.

I pray this prayer, a song of gratitude to you, my Maker,

Owner of my life.

Help me live up to be the Mom they deserve,

Help me show them your love in every dish that I cook.

In every song that I sing, in every book that I read for them.

Fill my heart and mouth with prayers for them

Fill my heart with awe, that I will never cease

To thank you,

And sing  to you,

A gratitude song.
