image DES MOINES – U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley’s re-election campaign will begin airing its latest issue-oriented advertisement today.

Entitled “Bananas”, the 30-second commercial focuses on Grassley’s stance to stop runaway federal spending.

“Iowans appreciate that every one of Chuck Grassley’s ads since Labor Day weekend has been about his work for us or issues of concern to us,” said campaign manager Bob Renaud. “They appreciate that he’s focused on what’s important to them, in spite of his opponent’s now months-long drumbeat of attack ads.”

The ad opens with the image of the national debt clock as an announcer says, “Washington is adding $4 billion a day to the national debt. It’s a mortgage on our children’s future.”

Grassley appears on the screen and notes, “Washington is going bananas. It’s time right now to stop the crazy spending before it’s too late.”

The announcer says, “Iowa’s Chuck Grassley is a voice of reason. Grassley works.” A young boy appears on screen and adds, “For us.”

The ad concludes with Grassley, who is on his Butler County family farm, saying, “I sure would appreciate your vote.”
