Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds in their weekly press conference today announced that Governor Branstad signed a formal written objections to  an administrative rule that requires $500 in state inspections for farmers who have electrical work done on their farm buildings.

The Iowa Electrical Examining Board approved the rule in 2008 under Governor Chet Culver’s administration.  Branstad said this rule could not be dealt with by executive order and it was too late to veto it (it had to be done in the first 70 days of his administration).  Branstad said this move should “put bureaucracy on notice.”
