“AFP-IA looks forward to advancing economic freedom for all Hawkeyes,” said Mark Lucas, Iowa’s State Director.  “Our agenda will focus on the following issues:

  1. Maintain the general budgeting practices of the previous general assembly that allowed the state to spend less money than it collected in revenue.
  2. See property tax reform that lowers the cost of living, working and doing business here in Iowa and offers long term predictability.
  3. Prevent an increase in the gas tax that would hurt Iowa families that have already seen steep increases in the cost of fuel over the last decade.
  4. Prevent the implementation of health care exchanges that increase health care expenses and/or the burden on taxpayers while limiting the choices that consumers have in their healthcare needs.

We will educate Iowans about these and other issues and hold our legislature accountable for how their votes affect economic freedom and prosperity.”

In 2012, Iowa’s activists rose to 25,000 while holding local meetings, town halls, and hosting the Obama’s Failing Agenda Bus Tour.  Recruitment and issue education will continue through rallies and town halls, email and social media action alerts, and other grassroots activities.

Lucas will renew these efforts during the 2013 session of the Iowa Legislature and continue to drive the policy debates in 2013.
