Andy Fales of WHO-TV (NBC) in Des Moines, IA should restrict his commentary to sports.  During the opening section of Sound Off, a weekly sports show shown on Sunday nights, he was commenting on the use of steroids in Major League Baseball during the “I Think” segment and made a passing comment about the IRS scandal and Benghazi.

At the 2:46 mark of the video found here Bales said:

For much of the week the new PED scandal involving A-Rod and Ryan Braun owned the national sports headlines.  Now I participated in the discussion, but I felt like the whole time I was discussing the IRS or Benghazi.  Headline material, yes, but I honestly don’t care, and I think most Americans agree.

Fales is certainly entitled to his opinion.  He should stick to sports and it is unfortunate that he felt it necessary to inject such controversial topics into a conversation about whether baseball players use steroids.  He’s right that most Americans probably don’t care, and frankly when Congress interjects into matters such as these; I think it’s a waste of time.  The IRS targeting groups due to ideology and unanswered questions about an attack on an American consulate that resulted in the loss of life is an entirely different matter.

I’m sorry that Fales lacks the intellectual curiosity to care about these matters, but to project his opinion onto “most Americans” is preposterous.

Update: Andy Fales tweeted a response to @CaffThoughts earlier.
