high-gas-prices
Tuesday Chris Plaushin, director of federal relations with AAA, told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee that $3 per gallon gasoline is a “thing of the past.”

The Hill reported that Plaushin explained: “‘The days of a national pump price below $3 is probably a thing of the past,’ he told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee at a hearing on fuel prices. In his testimony, Plaushin noted that the national average price of gasoline on Jan. 1 was the highest ever to begin a year, at $3.29 per gallon.”

Plaushin’s news comes on the heels of the Obama-Reid plans that would impose more harmful regulations on domestic energy producers, in essence declaring war on American energy production, which Democrat Bruce Braley supports. Under Braley’s watch, gas prices in Iowa have skyrocketed from $2.25 per gallon (when Braley first took office) to $3.56 per gallon – a significant increase at the pump for Iowa families and workers.

While two-thirds of Americans are demanding immediate action to reduce pain at the pump by building the Keystone XL Pipeline, the Obama-Reid-Braley liberal model is focused on making gas and electricity so expensive that Iowans use less of it – because they can’t afford it.

Democrats want to empower the EPA to take an even MORE aggressive role than it has today, meaning more red tape regulation, more government headaches, more fees, higher gas prices, more taxes, and more costs that would destroy our economy.

“Gas prices have skyrocketed under Bruce Braley’s watch, and while no single legislator can control the price at the pump, Braley supports a liberal Obama agenda that has in essence declared war on American energy production,” said NRSC Press Secretary Brook Hougesen. “Bruce Braley and his liberal allies actually want to raise the cost of electricity, oil and gas to crippling levels so that people use less of it, a misguided view which hurts middle class workers, families, and businesses but empowers the bureaucrats at the EPA. Higher taxes, higher energy costs, and higher health care costs are the hallmark of Bruce Braley’s time in Washington, which is why Iowans want someone else.”
