Sioux City, IA – Sam Clovis, U.S. Senate candidate and a 25-year U.S. Air Force veteran, criticized Bruce Braley’s support for reducing pension benefits for American military veterans.  The Braley-backed budget scheme cuts the cost-of-living adjustments of the current veteran pension system.  The ill-conceived “tax more-spend more” budget plan passed with Braley’s support.  The Braley-backed legislation is headed to the President for his signature.

“It’s unconscionable to take benefits from our veterans just so Washington can continue their wasteful overspending,” said Clovis.  “It is bad enough that this Congress and President continue to commit generational theft.  Now they are visiting their indiscipline and ineptitude on those who have chosen to defend the Constitution.  How ironic that those who cannot be bothered to follow the Constitution have no problem robbing from those who have sacrificed so much to defend the Supreme Law of the land. ”

Not only does the budget lower the pension benefits of future and current veterans, it also cuts benefits from disabled veterans.

“Many of these vets were wounded in action defending our freedom.  And Bruce Braley thinks it’s appropriate to cut their pension so we can continue to spend money on Obamacare,” added Clovis. “Out of a $3.5 trillion budget, Bruce Braley couldn’t find one thing to cut except our veterans’ pensions.  Unbelievable.”
