(Des Moines, IA) Sam Clovis, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, participated in a forum hosted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses on Tuesday.  “Today, it is more important than ever that small businesses, especially in Iowa, have the opportunity to operate without the over-burdensome restrictions and higher taxes that force too many entrepreneurs to close their doors and countless businesses to never open,” stated Clovis.

Sam Clovis is running for the U.S Senate seat currently held by Senator Tom Harkin.  Sen. Harkin announced that he will be retiring at the end of this Congressional session.

“Businesses, whether large or small, are encountering more and more regulations that are costing them dollars,” said Clovis.  He continued to say that these regulations range from minimum wage to religious discrimination.  “As a U.S. Senator, I will work to reduce government regulations and foster an environment that will encourage people to contribute to their personal and professional growth.  It is important that Americans can pursue their dream and achieve wellness through their own hard work and efforts.  That is the American dream that we all want and are all entitled to.”

Sam Clovis holds a Masters in Business Administration in Management and a Doctorate in Public Administration.  He is currently a tenured full professor at a private liberal arts college in northwest Iowa.  He served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and still provides leadership to defense and homeland security institutions.  He lives in Hinton, IA with his wife Charlotte and stepson Khan.  More information on the candidate and his campaign may be obtained at www.samclovis.com.
