empty tomb

Early in the last century much of then-official Mainline Protestantism succumbed to theological liberalism, rejecting biblical events like Christ’s resurrection as history. Easter was merely a metaphor, the spiritual Springtime equivalent of blooming daffodils, they insisted.

Today, such theological ‘modernism’ is archaic and in tatters, touted by elderly Protestant clergy and the sparsely attended roadshow of the Jesus Seminar. Surging global Christianity, including America’s growing churches, embraces the Easter of the bodily risen Savior.

Old Protestant liberalism affirmed Christian morality while emasculating Christian theology. Today’s church liberals, including post-Evangelicals, affirm much of orthodox theology while rejecting or minimizing Christian morality. It won’t work.

Easter reminds us that Christ rose and reigns, bringing abundant and eternal life, which is good news for all. Happy Easter!
