(Urbandale, IA) This week Iowa Right to Life learned that webcam abortions are no longer being offered at the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland clinic in Urbandale!
According to their recently updated website, “This health center doesn’t provide abortion services – but we can help you. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer abortion services.”
This location, tucked away on New York Avenue in Urbandale, has been a very busy location for them. It has also been an on-going 40 Days for Life vigil site since 2010, as well as receiving year-round prayer support from countless individuals.
“Since 2008, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has used women in Iowa as guinea pigs for a program they want rolled out nationwide, where women are having medication (RU-486) abortions after talking to a doctor only by webcam. They offer these abortions through 63 days into a pregnancy. (Well past the FDA recommendation of 49 days),” stated Jenifer Bowen, Executive Director of Iowa Right to Life. “This perversion of good tele-medicine technology is putting women in danger and it must stop. These abortions take longer and are bloodier than a surgical abortion. The women take the first drug at a Planned Parenthood, then later at home, take additional drugs that will abort their baby. These abortions are more profitable for Planned Parenthood, but more traumatic for women, who have to deal with the body of the dead baby at home.”
“While Planned Parenthood in Urbandale and 15 other locations state-wide continue to promote or sell abortion to women, we will remain steadfast and work tirelessly for the day when all lives are welcomed into this world. We will continue to work relentlessly for the protection of our women and unborn children from the devastation of abortion,” concluded Bowen.
