Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst is proud to announce that Governor Mitt Romney will make his first return to Iowa to join her on the campaign trail. Governor Romney will campaign with Joni Ernst in Cedar Rapids and Davenport on Friday, May 30.  Events will be open to the public, with details to be announced in the coming days.

In announcing his return to Iowa, Governor Romney said, “We need Iowa to have a voice in the U.S. Senate that will protect and promote traditional conservative values, and Joni’s proven record in the state senate, her decades of leadership as a military officer, and her commitment to the values that were passed on to her as a girl on a Montgomery County farm make it clear to me that she is the very best Iowa has to offer.”

Joni Ernst said, “Governor Romney knows that Iowans are hard-working, common-sense people that want a U.S. Senator who will take our shared Iowa values to Washington, D.C. Over the years he has made thousands of friends here. I am honored by his support and excited to campaign alongside him in Eastern Iowa next week.”

Joni Ernst currently serves as a state senator from Red Oak and a Lieutenant Colonel and battalion commander in the Iowa National Guard.  She previously served as the Montgomery County Auditor and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
