Steve King Receives Support From All Major Ag Groups

(Wall Lake, IA) Congressman Steve King has received the support of all major ag groups as he seeks re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. This includes the American Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association PAC, National Corn Growers, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, National Cattleman’s Beef Association, National Pork Producers Council Pork PAC, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation, United Egg Association, Growth Energy, and Wind PAC.

King has also received the support of the American Association of Crop Insurers, American Meat Institute, American Veterinary Medical Association, Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau, Crop Insurance Professionals, Florida Sugar Cane League, Ice Cream, Milk, and Cheese, Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative, National Grain and Feed Association, and Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop among others.

“I am grateful and pleased to have the support of these groups who represent crop, livestock, and renewable energy producers across Iowa and beyond,” King stated. “I understand and appreciate their contributions to our way of life in Iowa’s 4^thCongressional District – one of the most agriculturally productive in the nation.”

Since elected to Congress in 2002, King has been a member of the House Agriculture Committee and passionate advocate for production agriculture. “All new wealth comes from the land,” King remarked. “From there we add value in a variety of ways to feed, fuel, and clothe the world.”

Despite gridlock in Washington, DC, King worked with allies on both sides of the aisle in Congress to craft and pass a Farm Bill to give producers the direction and certainty needed to plan and grow their businesses.

King fights productivity-killing regulation and anti-ag forces. He battles regulations impairing producers’ ability to feed the world while he also opposes radical animal rights activists who want to shut down Iowa farms. King is working to permanently repeal estate tax which cripples family farms, causing too many to have to sell land to pay Uncle Sam rather than enable the next generation to succeed. He also promotes Iowa values and priorities. As the strongest voice for a Balanced Budget Amendment promoting stability in Washington, DC, King seeks to create economic opportunity on the farm and across the state.

Congressman King was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1996, then to Congress in 2002. He is a member of the US House Agriculture, Judiciary, and Small Business Committees. He is also Chairman of the Conservative Opportunity Society, the leading group of the U.S. House’s Constitutional Conservative Members, founded in 1984 by Newt Gingrich, who would become Speaker of the House.
