(Sheldon, IA) The Republican Parties of O’Brien, Osceola, Sioux, Lyon, Plymouth, and Cherokee Counties today jointly announced that Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) will headline a multi county Northwest Iowa Republican fundraising event on Friday, April 24 at 7:30pm at the Lifelong Learning & Recreation Center on the Campus of Northwest Iowa Community College.

Since becoming Wisconsin’s 45th Governor in January of 2011, Walker has proposed reforms that have eliminated the state’s $3.6 billion budget deficit without raising taxes and gave school districts and local governments the tools to balance their budgets without massive layoffs. To date, these changes have saved Wisconsin taxpayers some $3 billion. Governor Walker has also cut taxes by $2 billion for individuals, families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses since taking office. On June 5, 2012, Scott Walker became the first governor in American history to win a recall election and he was reelected to a second term in November of 2014. Walker is married to Tonette and they have two sons in college – Matt and Alex.

In addition to keynote remarks from Governor Walker and a catered meal, guests will also hear remarks from Congressman King.

“Governor Walker has built quite a notable record of success in Wisconsin and as he tests the waters of a possible presidential bid, this event will be a great opportunity for Northwest Iowa Republicans to meet him and learn more about his ideas for the future,” said O’Brien County Supervisor Nancy McDowell, the Secretary of the O’Brien County Republicans and an organizer of the event. “From working to cut the size of government, cutting taxes, and creating jobs to fighting for better education and traditional Midwestern values, Scott Walker brings an impressive resume to the table and we are excited to have him keynote our six county Northwest Iowa Republican fundraising event in Sheldon on April 24.”
