In Iowa, every four years we figuratively (sometimes literally) trip on presidential candidates and national media.  They go to venues large and small and sometimes they can be inconvenient.  Such is life.  It must have been an incredibly slow news day at the Des Moines Register, since Josh Hafner decided to run a short piece with a video of a man who on his way to the chicken at the Pizza Ranch buffet was blocked temporarily.  This video and short piece is titled, “Huckabee event halts man’s trip through buffet.”

The horror!

Mike Huckabee, in 2008, became known for hitting up Pizza Ranches, a tradition that Rick Santorum picked up in 2012 and Huckabee is revisiting once again.  Huckabee was in Western Iowa last week, and the event that Hafner is writing about happened last Thursday.

Hafner in this Pulitzer Award worthy piece wrote:

Pizza Ranch restaurants across the state are already assuming their quadrennial roles as the go-to venue for likely Republican candidates.

That’s good news if you’re one of the roughly 4 percent or so of Iowans who take part in the caucuses. But if you and the family are heading to Pizza Ranch just to enjoy a slice and some wings, you might find your meal interrupted.

Such was the fate of this fellow at a Pizza Ranch in Council Bluffs last week, whose trip through the chicken buffet was halted by a swarm of people surrounding Mike Huckabee during his event there last week.

People should be courteous to customers when attending events like this.  Watching the video, however, one should note that it was the media, not his supporters who were surrounding Huckabee (and there was plenty of room for him to move through).

How embarrassing that this drivel was actually published.
