john-kasich-ohioOhio Governor John Kasich is headed to Iowa for his first trip as a prospective Presidential candidate.

On Monday his organization, New Day for America, announced he would travel to Iowa toward the end of June.  Kasich is scheduled to speak at the Greater Des Moines Partnership at noon on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.  New Day for America said that he will add events to be announced later on.  Greater Des Moines Partnership currently does not have the event on their calendar.

Kasich, a second-term Republican governor and former congressman, has traveled the country in particular has spent time in New Hampshire and South Carolina.  Kasich polled at 2% of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers in a Des Moines Register poll released over the weekend.  Kasich has also been an avid supporter of Common Core which is a toxic position with Iowa’s grassroots conservatives.  Kasich has also proposed to raise various taxes, a move that has been criticized by Ohio Republicans.

A trip to Iowa could signal that Kasich may officially enter the 2016 presidential race.
