Faith McDonnell, the director of religious liberty programs at the Institute on Religion & Democracy, about the efforts to water down the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom in the U.S. Senate.  There are two competing bills: one is a bill put forth by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) that would reauthorize USCIRF and strengthen it’s mandate.  The other bill introduced by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) that would weaken the bipartisan, independent group.
