For the last episode of The Caffeinated Thoughts Podcast in 2017 we are talking about Russia, but not the Russia investigation, instead, Russia-U.S. relations in general and as it relates to radical Islamic terrorism.

One day after the explosion at a grocery store in Russia’s second largest city of St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered police to “take no prisoners” and “liquidate bandits on the spot” during terrorist attacks. Putin is up for his 4th term as president. The election is March 18th. And a series of attacks and thwarted plots have brought terrorism back to the forefront. Putin recently even thanked President Trump and the CIA for information of a potential ISIS plot. So what does this all mean to U.S. foreign policy?

Shane Vander Hart discusses this with Major General James A. Marks, USA, Retired. General Marks served as a senior intelligence officer for Operation Iraqi Freedom. After retiring after 30 years of service he has led many business ventures to include entrepreneurial efforts in education, energy, and primary research. He is an on-air national security, military, and intelligence contributor to CNN and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. He sits on several boards including the Call Of Duty Endowment and Bunker Labs which facilitates veteran transition. General Marks is a member of the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame.
