Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, a Republican, is in a tight race with Democrat challenger, Des Moines area businessman Fred Hubbell. The latest polling shows she trails Hubbell by five points with a lot of undecided voters. Cook Political Report considers the Iowa Gubernatorial contest a toss-up.

Women Speak Out PAC, a partner of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), today announced a six-figure independent expenditure campaign, together with The FAMiLY LEADER, to mobilize pro-life voters across Iowa to support the re-election of Governor Kim Reynolds. The campaign will also educate Iowans about Fred Hubbell’s pro-abortion record.

The SBA List Candidate Fund also announced its endorsement of Reynolds.

Reynolds became Iowa’s first female Governor in 2017 when former Governor Terry Branstad was confirmed by the Senate to be the U.S. Ambassador to China after serving as Lt. Governor for six years. She was first endorsed by SBA List in 2010. In 2013, Reynolds joined the Leadership Team of SBA List’s newly-formed National Pro-life Women’s Caucus.

“Kim Reynolds is a courageous pro-life champion,” SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “Kim showed principled leadership in signing legislation to protect unborn children beginning at their first heartbeats. As a state senator and then as lieutenant governor, she fought to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry and shepherded crucial pro-life bills like the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act through the Iowa legislature. Her opponent, Fred Hubbell, is a longtime former board member of Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business. We are committed to exposing Hubbell’s extremism and supporting Kim’s re-election bid. She is an outstanding governor who deserves the vote of every pro-life Iowan.”

“Gov. Kim Reynolds has demonstrated strong leadership and a firm commitment to defending the lives of the most defenseless Iowans by signing the Heartbeat Bill into law. And today, her candidacy stands in stark contrast to an opponent, Fred Hubbell, who was once the chairman of the board of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and still audaciously advocates for abortion providers. The choice for Iowans, and the choice for The FAMiLY LEADER, couldn’t be more clear: A governor who understands the preciousness of a baby’s life, versus an opponent who will work to ensure that babies’ lives can be snuffed out before birth,” Bob Vander Plaats, President and CEO of The FAMiLY LEADER, said.

“We know that pro-abortion forces outside Iowa will be pouring big money into making sure Fred Hubbell will carry out their extremist agenda. But Iowans know our children’s lives are worth more than Planned Parenthood’s profits. We would encourage all Iowans to join us in supporting Gov. Kim Reynolds for life, for babies and their mothers, and for governor,” he added.

Dannenfelser and Reynolds will speak at The FAMiLY LEADER’s Family Leadership Summit held tonight in Des Moines.
