“Iowa has a great story to tell and that’s because we have lowered taxes, balanced the budget, and made education spending a priority. The result: more Iowans are working than ever before, incomes are rising, and new job training programs are helping Iowans find careers,” Reynolds said in a released statement. “We are the best place in America to live, and with your vote we are going to keep it that way.”

The campaign highlighted the following points in an email this afternoon to complement the points made in the ad:

  • Iowa’s unemployment rate is at a historically low 2.5%. (“Iowa unemployment rate down to 2.5 percent, 2nd lowest in US,” Associated Press)
  • The state budget is balanced with a $127 million surplus. (“Iowa budget closes with $127 million surplus,” Cedar Rapids Gazette)
  • There have been three straight quarters of income growth. (Bureau of Economic Analysis)
  • With over $765 million in new money in K-12 education since 2011, education funding is at a record high. (Iowa Department of Education)
